NOTICE OF RACE

ONE DESIGN SERIES September 16, 2017

Organizing Authority: Indian Point Yacht Club

Location, Indian Point, Nova Scotia

 

 

  1. RULES

1.1 Races will be governed by the 2017-2020 Racing Rules of sailing (RRS) and the prescriptions of Sail Canada

 

  1. ELIGIBILITY & ENTRY

2.1 The regatta is open to the IOD one design class

2.2 Advance registration is available on-line at www.indianpointyachtclub.ca

 

  1. FEES

3.1 Entry Fees are is as follows; $75

 

  1. SCHEDULE

4.1 START TIMES

-Saturday, September 17    1200 First Signal One Design Classes

4.2 RACES WILL BE SCHEDULED AS FOLLOWS

– Up to 5 races

 

  1. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS:

6.1 The sailing instructions will be available online after 1900 on Friday September 15

 

  1. COURSES:

7.1 Windward/leeward courses on a one design course. Planned One Design signal boat location is expected to be close to Round Island but will be announced on VHF 72 after 1100 on race day.

 

  1. PENALTY SYSTEM

8.1 For all classes RRS 44.1 is changed so that the Two-Turn penalty is replaced by the One-Turn Penalty

 

  1. EQUIPMENT

9.1 With the exception of the equipment requirements of one design boats which must carry the equipment mandated by their class association, all boats, skippers and crews shall comply with the safety equipment requirements and follow the recreational boating regulations set out in the Current Canadian Safe Boating Guide, or in their own National regulating authority.

 

  1. SCORING

10.1 One race is required to be completed to constitute a series.

10.2 When 5 or more races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.

   11. RADIO COMMUNICATION:

11.1 Except in an emergency, a boat that is racing shall not make voice or data transmission and shall not receive voice and data communication that is not available to all boats

11.2 Competitors in the One Design classes are strongly encouraged to have a working VHF radio to monitor channel 72. Race Committee may broadcast courtesy transmissions of intentions, course designations, OCS, course changes, etc.

12.DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY: Competitors participate in the series entirely at their own risk. See RRS Rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, or during or after the race.

13.LIABILTY INSURANCE: Each boat participating shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum coverage of $1.000.000

14. FURTHER INFORMATION

14.1 Competitors grant the organizing authority the unrestricted right and permission to use the name and/or image for any text, photograph or video footage of either themselves or the boat they are sailing during the event to be published or broadcast in any media whatsoever (including but not limited to press and TV advertisements or internet), for either editorial or advertising purposes or to be used in press information.2 For Information contact Indian Point Yacht Club www.indianpointyachtclub.ca.ca email: [email protected]
